Recognisable people in the background

Any rules of thumb on how to handle recognisable people in an image, who are not the main focus of the image? How OK is it to upload? How likely to get accepted here? What about blurring faces - a bit obvious, possibly detracts from quality of the shot?
Here's one I took recently - I've taken out the name of the boat and its operator, and some other background recognisable text/trademarks. But not sure what to do about the people:

First image is a lower-resolution version of the whole image, the second is a part of the image at full resolution with people's faces...

Sorry, Colin. As I said on the other post, I had no internet for more than a week. The faces - if the second image is the actual size, are recognisable so you would need a model release. If blurring makes it look odd, then it might just not be usable for stock. One other thing you could do, if you have any software that can do it, is to turn it into an impressionistic arty image. Not all methods work as well, and highly coloured photos seem to work better. And this is one of mine. For the love of me I can't remember the combinations of effects I used or I'd tell you. Sometimes I reach a place where I like the result, but I can't remember down the track how I got there. No problem - I just assumed everyone was away on holiday, sunning themselves, taking pictures!! And for the thoughts/ideas on alternative approaches. Will have a play and see whether anything usable comes out of that!

It's worth experimenting. And if you can afford to pay for software, there seems to be a lot of it about at reasonable prices. Gimp can use Photoshop plug-ins, I believe, although I never worked with Gimp. Do lots of Google searches. An effect may look terrible on one photo and amazing on another, so never give up.
It's winter here, and even though the sun is out most days, we're at the point of having to wear socks with our flip flops, and even jumpers at night. I know other people have real life happening, so it can be a bit frustrating when your voice echoes off the walls! Rest assured, at least I was having no fun. LOL
Let us know if you find any decent freebies. I have collected a lot over the years but many won't work on modern computers.
