Errrr dont,,really, just had some good old Irish potato cakes, not any kiddlys in sight!!!

What's an Irish potato cake? Maybe it's what we call a potato scallop?

1 lb (450 g) floury potatoes
2 oz butter
Salt and pepper
Plain flour
Method:
Peel and potatoes and cook until tender.
Drain and shake the pan over the heat for a moment to dry the potatoes.
Mash well and, while still hot, beat in the butter.
Season with salt and pepper to taste and work in enough flour to bring to a dough.
Divide the dough into 4 and pat each part into a round of about ½" (1 cm) thick on a floured board and then cut each circle into quarters.
Make sure that the frying pan is well greased and heated through and then cook the potato cakes for about 5 minutes each side until nicely brown.
Suggestion:: Split each potato cake in two and fill with a slice of butter. Lovely with sausages, bacon and tomatoes.
Im, a little strange as i like mine with a little butter and a blob of strawberry jam ,,,,mmmm you'll love them :O)

Okay. That sounds easy. Definitely not scallops. Once I can stay in one place for a bit, I will try them. Sounds like gnocci, only fried, not boiled.

They are very nice, i have made sum but mostly i,ll buy um ready made just bang um in the toaster and bob's your uncle!!

I don't think I've seen them here. Maybe in the city delis. I'll be in Brisbane again *sigh* on Sunday (this time for study, not to see my washer-upperers), and in an inner city suburb. I'll look for a nearby deli. Heaven knows, I have to eat SOMETHING!

mmmm, anyway as i was saying, the doc has told me to place fingers in ears and blow as hard as possible as it could be that my head has deflated due to its age,,pig,,hate my doctor,,,im no cactus specialist but i know a prick when i see one..
